Submersed, are from Stephenville, Texas. The band started out with 5 members - Donald, Kelan, TJ, Josh and Aaron, and promptly recorded a Demo CD that contained 3 songs - "Deny Me", "You Run" and "Unconcerned". (All three of these songs were very different to what you hear on the "In Due Time" CD. Donald was later quoted as calling them "Song Ideas" as opposed to demos, as the recordings were quite polished.)
The Demo CD found it's way into the hands of Mark Tremonti (of Creed and Alter Bridge fame), who was instantly impressed with what he heard. Upon the untimely departure of Aaron Young, Mark chaperoned young blues guitar protege Eric Friedman into the band. Eric's (who had previously met Mark at NAMM)arrival into the band immediately set the ball rolling for them, as they signed a major record deal with Wind-Up Records on the very next day.
The band soon set to work, gelling with their new guitarist and writing material in the build up to their first major studio session for their debut album. These sessions would spawn the earliest known recordings for "Dripping", "Broken Man", "Finding You" and many others. Finally confident in their catalogue of original material, the band took the center stage in front of tens of thouands, playing an opening set for Creed during their final few shows as a band. This brought them several hundreds of fans, and word quickly spread around the internet about the promise of Submersed.
The departure of Josh Hissem could do little to offset the band, as they chose to embark upon recording for their debut album. As a result of this, the release date for their first single was pushed back indefintely (It would release a full 18 months after initially planned). Scott Phillips filled in behind the drumset whilst Kirk Kelsley and Mark Tremonti produced the session for the album, tentatively titled "All Things Beginning of an End".
With All Things looking set for release, the band appointed Garrett Whitlock as their drummer, and they entered the studio one last time; where the resulting material was so strong that the band called for a last minute scrapping of All Things in favor of writing and recording new material (and re-working older songs). The resulting record, In Due Time, was released in Mid-2004 to promising sales and positive feedback, with the debut single "Hollow" doing extremely well on the Rock Radio charts.
The band set out on their first, full scale national tour as opening acts for Alter Bridge. As the months passed, the respect for Submersed amongst the gig-goers grew, and soon enough, Submersed were promoted to the second opening slot of the night due to public demand. The band seemingly couldn't stop touring; setting out once more with Theory of a Deadman after the Alter Bridge gig came to a close.
In Spring of 2006, the band revealed that they were in the studio again, fervently writing and recording new material for their as yet untitled sophomore release, with track-names such as "The Pen is Mightier Than The Sword" and of course, "The Rescue". However, in June, the band announced Eric Friedman's mutually decided departure, and that TJ would be handling all of the guitar-driven duties from there on.
Since then, the band has visited the studio multiple times with recording producer Rick Beato, and have written and recorded several new songs. It seems that the foundation for the future has been laid. Expect an album in Spring, 2007.
